Test your speed

What this measures. A speed test shows the maximum download and upload your connection can deliver right now — to a test server somewhere nearby. It's the simplest way to confirm your plan is performing as expected.
How to get an accurate reading
- Connect via cable — plug your computer directly into the modem with Ethernet. Wi-Fi adds variability.
- Close other apps — pause downloads, Netflix, cloud sync, and video calls before testing.
- Test at different times — try one peak (7–10 pm) and one off-peak test to compare.
- Test more than once — speeds vary minute-to-minute. Run 3 tests and take the average.
What numbers to expect
| Plan | Max plan speed | Typical evening (7–11pm) |
| Extra Value | 25 Mbps | ~22 Mbps |
| Power Home | 100 Mbps | ~94 Mbps |
| Superfast nbn™ | 250 Mbps | ~225 Mbps |
| Litespeed | 1000 Mbps | ~910 Mbps |
| 2 Gigabit 2200 | 2000 Mbps | ~1810 Mbps |
My speed is slower than expected
- Test wired first — Wi-Fi often caps below your plan speed, especially on older devices.
- Restart your modem and router (unplug for 30 seconds).
- Check our Network Status page for outages in your area.
